Course Curriculum

Phase 1 – CSLB Exam Prep
Welcome to Phase 1: CSLB Exam Prep, your foundation to passing the California State License Board (CSLB) exams with confidence and accuracy. This step is entirely about providing you with the information, plan, and attitude to complete the Law and Business exams, as well as the general B Trade section of the exam, and to do so effectively. Consider this stage the contractor's boot camp. You will not only know the content that will be on the exam, but also the ability to think like a licensed contractor, a person who knows the laws, manages projects freely and profitably, and avoids compliance by trial and error. What You'll Learn Your capacity to develop three primary skills involves the following three modules: Module 1: Law & Business Mastery  You will tear apart everything that the CSLB asks you to know concerning the operation of a lawful, profit-making, and compliant contracting company. This module provides a foundation for all professional contractors, covering licensing, business classification, employment laws, financial management, and safety standards. You will also complete one of those fake exams that look like the real Law and Business part of the exam so that you can test out your knowledge immediately. Module 2: General B Skills that are trade-specific  This is where we now move into specific trade knowledge, hands-on and practical, which you will require in the General B classification. As you will see, you will review construction planning, bidding, and project management, and proceed to building codes, site preparation, framing, and communication between various trades such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. It concludes with a set of practice questions and a mock exam that assesses your readiness. Module 3: Psychology and Strategy of Test-taking  Lastly, you will get to know how to perform during exams, time management will be taught, you will know how to approach the exams to avoid tricky choices, and how to remain in your head during the exam. The CSLB test taker will learn the layout of the CSLB test, how the tests are scored, and how to focus with the best tips to build concentration to decrease anxiety. The last lesson will have a mock simulation, and that is why you will get to feel what it is like during the exam. By the End of Phase 1 You'll walk away with:  Complete comprehension of CSLB law, business, and trade materials.  Carrying yourself with the quality of confidence that you will grow up knowing how to analyze and answer questions correctly.  The means and the mentality to enter your exam fully equipped to pass your exam on your first attempt. The period is entirely focused on developing business credibility, financial capabilities, and contract preparedness, the three cornerstones that enable contractors to move beyond small projects and vie for bigger, higher-paying awards. Imagine this step as a business expansion boot camp for your contractor. Definitely, you will know how to build good business credit, how to survive in the realm of government contracts, and how to position your business to win bids and get finances. At the end, you will have the systems, certifications, and confidence to leave behind small jobs that offer short-term employment and enter long, high-paying contracts.
